It is the Capital of New Zealand and to my opinion much nicer then Auckland. The road from Carterton was partly paved with s-curves over the mountains. The harbour front has many restaurants and bars and maybe also because the weather is very good, 7 degrees and lots of sunshine it is a please to stroll along the water.
I visited the National Museum and I am now updating the blog in an Internet shop.
Tomorrow (have to arrange that though) will embark from Wellington to Picton and will go through the Malbourough Sounds, which should be wonderful. From Picton (after a 4,5 boat trip) I will try to reach Nelson to stay for the night. From there hopefully in one day reach Fox Glacier.
Rest of the day to see Wellington.

Nu gaat je reis pas echt beginnen, het zuider eiland, zo mooi! Nee hoor, het noorder eiland vonden wij ook fantastisch, je kunt ze ook eigenlijk niet met elkaar vergelijken. Eigenlijk zou je als je tijd hebt nog een stukje noorderlijker van nelson moeten gaan, naar de Golden Bay en het Abel Tasman park, fantastisch natuurgebied! Maar ja, ook jij zit met de resterende tijd, als je maar 3 weken hebt, moet je keuzes maken, dat kan niet anders! Heel veel plezier nog, ga je nog langs de Punakaiki en naar één van de Souds? Ik zou de Doubtful nemen, die is minder toeristisch en de reis ernaar toe is al spectaculair! Poeh, als ik het er zo over heb, wil ik wel weer terug. Ach wat in het vat zit, verzuurt niet, zeggen ze! Goeie terugreis ook!
